Surprise!

When Brandon first started the school year, we were unsure of how much time he would have for Christmas and if we would be able to come home. So we just told our families that we wouldn't be able to make it. With the end of the first semester in October, we got his next school schedule and found out that he had over a week off from school for Christmas and New Years. We thought it would be fun to surprise our families and tell them we weren't coming when we really fully intended to. So we have been spinning deceit for a few months. Mom was a little appalled at how good a liar I am, I totally had her convinced that we weren't coming. I laid it on really thick and went so far as to tell her that I had sent Christmas presents for her and Dad, and to let me know when they got there. Of course, I never sent them, we brought them with us, but I still would check in everyone once in a while and ask if they had arrived yet. Man, I'm good!

Mom and Dad were happy to see us, but I did take a chewing out from mom for driving in such bad road conditions. I think I was called stupid a couple times, idiot once and she threw in dough head a few times too. She told me I was lucky she didn't know I was driving, because she would have been really worried. Brandon's family was really surprised too. We got up at 1am Christmas morning so we could be on the road by 2 am. It took us 13 hours to make the trip, so we made it in time to crash the Durfee Christmas dinner.

We are really excited to be home for Christmas and to go sledding. Brandon is checking the field behind his Grandma's house to make sure there isn't too much drifting so we can pull all of the grand kids behind the 4 wheeler on sleds. I plan on doing the downhill sledding too. It will be Ashley's first time sledding, she was still pretty little last year, so that makes it extra exciting.
