We recently started a new bedtime routine with Ashley in preperation for the kids sharing a room. We used to just snuggle and read stories for a while and then shut her in her room. Now we have been leaving the door open. She has actually been staying in bed fairly good, for a 2 year old. Once she falls asleep, she usually doesn't disturb us for the rest of the night. She has been coming up with some really funny reasons to get out of bed, which scares me a little bit seeing has how she is pretty little to be coming up with this stuff. She often comes out and and says that she is poopy and needs a bum change (she doesn't). She also picks her nose and comes out with the booger because she needs a tissue. The most entertaining excuse though involes her shoving her foot underneath a bi-fold door just outside of her bedroom and then calling out to us that she is stuck (she isn't) and needs help. If this is what she is coming up with now, I'm worried for what we have ahead of us. She is a smart little monster.
Overall things are going really great. Ashley has adjusted beautifully to being a big sister. She is really sweet to Cody and loves to give lots of kisses. Cody is starting to sleep for longer periods at night; we are up to three hour stretches between feedings. Brandon and I (mostly Brandon, the kids keep me pretty busy) are working hard at packing and getting things ready for our move. We'll see some of you in just a couple weeks!
Here is a picture from a couple days ago. We are all snuggled up to read stories before naptime:
